1. Why do you think the disciples are arguing over who will be first?
2. What lesson is Jesus teaching the disciples about power, control and
leadership?
3. What is the point that Jesus is making about misleading children? How
does this teaching relate to the issue of power and control?
4. What part of this passage brings the greatest challenge for you at
this point in your life?
· Thinking of serving my brothers and sisters, instead of being in
competition with them (vv. 33—36).
· Not resenting someone just because he or she doesn’t do things my way
(v. 38).
· Condemning those who mislead the young and innocent—there was a time
when I did that (v. 42).
· Cutting off my offending parts (vv. 43—48)—I would be totally maimed!
· Being at peace with one another (v. 50)—I’m the cantankerous type.
