OUR 'DISTINCTIVE' VISION STATEMENT
As a youth group we want to be radically different for Jesus:
Our vision is to enable young people to become the people that God wants them to be.

LIVING OUT OUR FAITH:
To come together as a body of worshippers,
To be Passionate in Prayer,
To grow in faith through the Holy Spirit,
To build relationships with all,
To equip each other for life.

Our youth programmme spans ages 11-18,
both churches and has 5 strands:

  • REACTORS
  • PROJECTS
  • CELL GROUPS
  • SUNDAYS
  • RETREATS

REACTORS
Reactors meet on a Monday night at Sale West Community Church at 7pm till 8:30pm.
The group is aimed at 11-14 year olds and uses the Youth for Christ Rock Solid material.
We do a mixture of games, food and discussion all based around a central theme.

PROJECTS
Projects is a workshop based youth group that meets on a Friday night at St. Mary's Church Centre at 8pm till 10pm.
We do a mixture of activities from music and art workshops to book groups and Christian activities.
It is aimed at 14-18 years olds and costs £1 per session.

CELL GROUPS
Cell groups are central to everything we do. This is the best way to join the youth group. Each cell meets once a week for an hour and half to two hours during the evening in different venues. The group contains a mixture of people usually around a similar age and involves a bible study, worship and prayer. There is also a programme of socials such as Rock Climbing and a worship service every half term.

SUNDAYS
We meet during the morning service at both churches. Ages 11-16 are welcome and there is a mixture of bible study, games and food!

RETREATS
Several times a year we take the young people away on retreats. These include cell retreats, Church House parties and events like Soul Survivor.

In Distinctive, we desire to help our young people meet Jesus and mature into committed, compassionate Christians: to 'know and grow'. This strategy of evangelism and discipleship runs right through our children's and youth work, and we are passionate about seeing young people, when they move on from our church, equipped to serve Christ wherever he may lead them. We seek to enable them to know God more intimately and to live, act and speak in such a way as to show the love and the truth of Jesus to those around them. It is also our aim to ensure that our young people feel welcomed as a part of the church as a whole, the Body of Christ, and that their many pastoral needs are met. Our activities range from the midweek cell groups, where the emphasis is on discipleship and creating an atmosphere of openness and honesty, to the informal groups and other social events
