More commonly referred to as the 'Thursday afternoon working party', this team meets weekly from 2.00pm until about 5.00pm, usually with a half hour tea break. There are currently 10 people on the team (males and females) and they describe their ages as 'under 80', though they are keen to point out that anyone over that age is always welcome to join them!

They are provided with a list of 'jobs to do' each week and decide amongst themselves who is going to do which job.
They were asked to come up with a list of things they do so that we can get an idea of what is involved….

• Repair work
• gardening
• painting
• tidying the church centre and grounds
• cleaning the kitchen
• cleaning windows and paintwork both inside and out
• cleaning and clearing the gutters
• tidying the woodstore
• taking rubbish to the tip
• washing graffiti off church walls
• repairing vandal damage
• clearing the leaves in autumn
• putting up and decorating the Christmas trees
• (a new job more recently) building pantomime sets!

They obviously put in a tremendous amount of hard work to keep our church and its environment in good condition. What do they get out of it? Admittedly sore backs and knees, but also a very welcome cup of tea and biscuits, fellowship and the satisfaction of knowing that their contribution means that the church is saved a lot of money by not having to pay other people to do these jobs. They do what they do to serve the church and God, to gain much friendship and fellowship and to do things that they enjoy doing.

The team are always happy to have more people joining them on a Thursday afternoon, even if they can't commit to being there every week. The only qualifications required are enthusiasm, old clothes and a sense of humour!
